BSMRSTU student Afsana becomes best shooter of Sundarban regiment

Forty women cadets participated in the firing competition held in Sundarban on Sunday

Afsana Akhtar, a student of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman University of Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) of Gopalganj, has clinched first place in the firing competition under 22-battalion of Sundarban regiment of Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC).

She is a cadet under officer (CEO) of BNCC platoon and a third year student of the International Relations department of the university.

Forty women cadets from different colleges and universities under 22-battalion of Sundarban regiment, participated in the firing competition held in Sundarban of Khulna on Sunday.

Afsana secured the first place in the women's division by firing a total of 10 rounds in the competition.

Regiment Commander Lt Col Hassan Mahmud handed over the victory crest to Afsana.

Officers of Sundarban regiment, trainers, PUOs of various educational institutions and cadets of various schools and colleges under 22-battalion were present at the program. 

Afsana was accorded a warm reception by his classmates and university students when she returned to her university campus on Tuesday.

She said: “I am really happy to have this achievement in my educational life.

“I express my gratitude to the authorities of Sundarban regiment for making such arrangements for us to conduct military training in defense of the country…I am overwhelmed by the love of my classmates and students for this achievement,”: added Afsana. 

Regiment Commander Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Mahmud said: “We provide military education to cadets through various training. I organized this in continuation of this. I wish all the best for all the cadets participating in this camp and all the winning cadets.”
