Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Dr Benazir Ahmed said that the proposed Armed Police Battalion (APBn) camps are being set up in Chittagong Hill Tracts in phases to ensure security.

The IGP came up with the remark after inaugurating a resort in an area adjacent to Thanchi police station on Sunday.

Besides, the police administration is working tirelessly for the development of the tourism industry in the CHT region, said Benazir Ahmed.

“Many roads have been developed in the remote Thanchi upazila, which has immense potential for the tourism industry and for its natural beauty,” he said.

“Tourists from different parts of the country are coming to enjoy the natural beauty of Thanchi. We are very pleased as we have been able to build Highlanders Park and Resort near Thanchi police station under police trustee board as per demand of tourists,” the IGP further added.

According to police sources, the Highlanders Park and Resort with eight cottages have been constructed at a cost of Tk6 crore under the board.

The resort will have a swimming pool, traditional food of the local hill people, a beautiful hut, cottages, cafe house, restaurant, picnic spot and water fountain, added the sources.

Md Anwar Hossain, deputy inspector general (DIG) of Chittagong division, Kabir Ahmed, additional DIG and Md Tariqul Islam, superintendent of Bandarban police, among others, attended the inaugural program.
