Bangladeshi stand-up comedian Abu Hena Rony and four others have sustained burn injuries in a gas blast on the fourth founding anniversary event of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP).
The incident took place on Gazipur District Police Lines ground on Friday evening, said GMP Commissioner Mollah Nazrul Islam.
Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Rafiqul Islam said the injured – Rony, Mosharraf Hossain, Zillur Rahman, Imran Hossain and Rubel Hossain – had been rushed to the hospital.
Later, Rony, Mosharraf Hossain and Zillur were taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, he said.
Around 25%-30% of the surface area of the comedian’s body was burnt, the physician added.
