The Sub-Inspector (SI) from Narayanganj Detective Branch (DB), accused in a case filed by BNP over the death of a Jubo Dal activist, has been withdrawn from his post.
SI Mahfuzur Rahman Kanak was attached to the Narayanganj police line, said DB Inspector Fakhruddin Bhuiyan on Thursday.
He told Dhaka Tribune that only senior officials know if a probe committee has been formed over the incident.
In this regard, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Amir Khosru said that it has not yet been proved if the Jubo Dal leader Shawon was killed by the police.
However, proper actions will be taken after an investigation, he added.

Besides, when contacted, DB Additional Superintendent of Police Tariqul Islam told Dhaka Tribune that he is not willing to comment on the incident.
According to several police sources, Mahfuzur Rahman Kanak joined the Narayanganj DB from Bhola Police Reserve Force (R-1), some five to six days before clash took place.
On September 1, during the clash with the BNP activists, SI Mahfuzur Rahman Kanak was seen firing a Chinese rifle.

Superintendent of Police (SP) of Narayanganj district Golam Mostafa Russell along with 42 policemen and constables have been made accused in the case, said Narayanganj Court Police Inspector Asaduzzaman.
On September 1, BNP supporters brought out a procession in the afternoon to celebrate the party's founding anniversary.
The procession was barred by police when it reached the second rail gate area and a clash erupted.
Police claimed that the BNP did not take permission before observing the program on the street.
On Saturday, police filed a case against 71 people over the clash.
Earlier on Friday, the victim - Shawon's elder brother Milan Prodhan filed a murder case against 5,000 unidentified people including BNP activists at Narayanganj Sadar Model police station.
