A Dhaka court on Monday sent Mamun Hossain, husband of deceased college teacher Khairun Nahar who killed herself, to jail.
Judge Md Moslem Uddin of Nator Judicial Court-1 passed the verdict in the afternoon.
Court Inspector Nazmul Haque said that Mamun was produced before the court on Monday afternoon by Sadar police station.
“At around 5:30pm, the accused applied for bail. Then the court denied his plea and ordered him to be sent to prison,” he added.
Earlier on Sunday, police recovered the body of Khairun Nahar, who married college student Mamun, from a rented house in the Ballaripara area of Natore’s Gurudaspur at 7am.
Mamun was arrested right after the body was recovered. After interrogation, he was sent to court on Monday.
Mamun and Nahar got married on December 12 last year. After six months of marriage, when the matter became viral, various discussions and criticisms started on social media.
