The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested a man for buying and selling stolen motorcycles posing to be a police officer.
Md Palash Sarkar alias Nazmul was arrested from Jatrabari on Thursday, Assistant Police Commissioner (Wari Zone) Md Shamsul Islam told Bangla Tribune.
He said: “Palash rides a white motorcycle that police officers use, so people would believe him.”
He sold various stolen motorcycles by putting “police” stickers on the vehicles. The man is also involved in various other fraudulent activities, he added.
The officer further said that an operation is underway to arrest the other members involved in the scam.
A case has been filed against Palash at the Jatrabari police station.
