A police vehicle was attacked and vandalized during a protest against the price hike of fuel oils in Dhaka.
The incident took place in the capital’s Shyamoli area on Saturday, reports Bangla Tribune.
“The vehicle is not from Sherebangla Nagar police station. We are trying to find out from which police station the vehicle came from," Officer-in-Charge (OC) Utpal Barua of Sherebangla Nagar police station said.
He mentioned that an investigation is underway to identify the attackers, and why they vandalized the vehicle.
The government on Friday announced that it had raised all fuel oil prices, which came into effect on Saturday.
The sharp rise, around 50%, came as a surprise since the authorities recently rumors of a possible crisis over fuel stock.
Now the price of diesel and kerosene per litre at the consumer level is Tk114, octane Tk135, and petrol Tk130.
