All the major rivers in the northern region of the country were rising on Wednesday, with the authorities forecasting that the trend would continue for two more days.
On the other hand, all the major rivers in the northeastern region, except for the Khowai River, saw a downturn in the 24 hours till 9am on Wednesday.
No river in the country was flowing over the danger level during the period, the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) said, adding that the water levels rose at 74 points out of the 109 monitoring stations of the country.
It said the rivers in Brahmaputra-Jamuna and Ganges-Padma basins were on a rising trend.
The Dharla River in Kurigram was flowing 15cm below the danger level at 3pm. It rose by 8cm from 9am.
The Teesta water rose by 41cm at Dalia of Nilphamari and was flowing 15cm below the danger line at 9am. It fell by 10cm at 3pm at Dalia but increased by 2cm at Kaunia in Lalmonirhat, which is 13cm below the danger line.
The Dudhkumar River was flowing 9cm below the danger level at Pateshwari point in Kurigram at 9am. The water level dropped by 9cm and was flowing 18cm below the danger line at 3pm.
In the Meghna basin, the Khowai River rose by 40cm at Ballah point in Chunarughat of Habiganj at 9am and by another 5cm at 3pm but was far below the danger line, the FFWC added.
