Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday arrested a Bangladesh Chhatra Dal leader for making derogatory remarks on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Farhad Hossain, convener of Pekua upazila unit Bangladesh Chhatra Dal, was arrested from Chittagong.
On July 16, Farhad Hossain and General Secretary of upazila unit BNP Iqbal Hossain used indecent language against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during their speech at a program.
Later, several videos of the incident went viral on social media.
Farhad Hossain also allegedly posted offensive statements about the prime minister on his Facebook account.
Meanwhile, leaders and activists of the ruling party held protests and meetings, urging swift action against those involved in the incident.
General Secretary of upazila unit Awami League Abul Kasem filed an ICT case with Pekua police station accusing five people including Iqbal Hosain, Farhad Hossain, Magnama union parishad Chairman Yunus Chowdhury.
Inspector Md Farhad Ali of Pekua police station said the accused has been handed over to court.
