Rajshahi division has the highest divorce rate in Bangladesh at 0.61%, according to the latest census data.
Meanwhile, there are more unmarried people in Sylhet at a rate of 37.77%, as per the preliminary report of Population and Housing Census 2022 published on Wednesday.
The report said that, considering the total population of the country, the divorce rate is 42%, married rate is 65.26%, single rate is 28.65%, widow or widower rate is 5.31% and marital separation rate is 0.37%.
Besides, the divorce rate is 0.29% in Barisal division, 0.30% percent in Chittagong division, 0.40% in Dhaka division, 0.55% in Khulna division, 0.40% in Mymensingh division, 0.38% in Rangpur division and 0.43% in Sylhet division.
The unmarried rate is 27.20% in Barisal, 32.57% in Chittagong, 28.93% in Dhaka, 24.52% in Khulna, 27.75% in Mymensingh, 24.38% in Rajshahi and 25.78% in Rangpur.
According to the data of census 2022, the total population of Bangladesh is 161 million.
Among the total population, number of males are 8,17,12,824, females are 8,33,47,206 and transgenders are 12,629.
Of the total population, the highest– 44 million people live in the Dhaka division with a population growth rate of 1.94%.
