The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed to stop buying all types of vehicles in public universities of the country.
The UGC on Tuesday issued this directive to follow the government's cost-cutting policy, reports Bangla Tribune.
It said these instructions were given in a meeting related to the budget implementation plan following the instructions of the government for the proper use of the budget allotted to the public universities.
According to the commission, no money can be spent on the honorarium of any project committee’s meeting.
A maximum of 50% of the allocated money can be spent on recreation expenses, computers and accessories, electrical equipment, and furniture considering only the essential and essential areas.
In case of training within the country, a maximum of 50% of the money allocated to the training sector can be spent.
A maximum of 80% of the allocated funds can be spent on petrol, oil and lubricants and gas and energy sectors while 25% of the money allocated to the power sector should be saved.
Meetings, seminars, workshops, and training should be done virtually as much as possible. Unspent funds in the mentioned sectors cannot be transferred to any other sector.
The UGC directed the public universities of the country to budget expenditure and Annual Purchase Plan (APP) for the financial year 2022-23 in accordance with the cost containment policy.
Instructions are also given to upload the APP on the EPITH software by July 31.
