Two people were killed and three others injured when a pickup van overturned on the Padma Bridge at around 10:15pm on Sunday.
The accident took place near pillar 14 on the bridge. As a result, traffic on the bridge came to a halt for over an hour.
Fire Service members later removed the vehicle from the middle of the road, restoring traffic movement.
The deceased were identified as Kauser and Raju. Both were passengers of the pickup. Details about them could not be known immediately.
Three others injured, including a child, were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Dr Asaduzzaman, duty doctor at Sreenagar Health Complex, said.
Munshiganj Traffic Inspector Bajlul Rahman said that a pickup truck carrying LP gas from Shariatpur to Dhaka lost control and overturned at around 10:15pm on Sunday.
Padma Bridge North police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain said that the pickup truck was removed with a wrecker. "Traffic situation will become normal in no time."
