Eid holidaymakers are seen flocking to Daulatdia ferry terminal since Friday morning to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with their friends and families.
However, the inauguration of Padma Bridge has lessened the suffering of the people.
Long queues of cars were not seen this year as more passengers preferred crossing the river with the ferry.
Magura-bound motorcyclist Sourav Ahmed said: “I did not face any trouble while coming to the ghat from Dhaka. There was no traffic jam at the ferry terminal.”
Another Eid holidaymaker, Asma Akhter, claimed that she crossed the Daulatdia ferry terminal without the usual hassle.
Prafulla Chauhan, ghat manager of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) of Daulatdia Ghat, said there is pressure of passengers and vehicles at the ghat.
“This is absolutely nothing while comparing it with the previous years,” he added.
At present, out of 21 ferries, 19 small and big ferries are plying on this waterway.
