There was a 4km long line of vehicles seen at the Mawa end of Padma Bridge in Louhjong upazila of Munshiganj on Friday.
The Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga Expressway, known as the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Highway, has seen an increase in traffic on Friday, reports Bangla Tribune.
This has resulted in the long queue of vehicles at the bridge.
Abul Hossain, executive engineer of Padma Bridge and also the in-charge of the toll plaza at the Mawa end, said: “The vehicles are crossing the bridge in the usual way. However, due to the pressure of additional vehicles and the collection of tolls manually, the vehicles have to wait for some time at the toll plaza.”
“Due to this, 4km long line of vehicles are slowly crossing the toll plaza,” he added.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain of Padma Bridge North police station also confirmed the matter.
