A Sylhet court has sent the then Awami League mayoral candidate Golam Rasul Chowdhury alias Rahel Chowdhury of Habiganj's Nabiganj Municipality to jail in a case of electoral violence.
He is the son-in-law of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Shahab Uddin.

According to the charge sheet, the court issued arrest warrants against the accused.
On Monday, the second accused in the case, Rahel Chowdhury, surrendered and applied for bail, but the court rejected his bail application and ordered him to be sent to jail.
