Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Director General of Al-Jamiah Al-Islamiyyah Patiya Allama Shah Abdul Halim Bukhari.
In a condolence message, the premier prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul of the noted Islamic scholar and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Allama Shah Abdul Halim Bukhari was also the secretary general of Anjuman-e-Ittihadul Madaris Bangladesh, one of the five Qaumi Education Boards recognized by the government.
Abdul Halim Bukhari breathed his last in Chittagong at 10:04am on Tuesday. His Namaz-e-Janaza was held at 10pm on the premises of Patiya Madrasa.
He left behind wife, three daughters, four sons, numerous students, relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud also condoled the death of the prominent Islamic scholar.
In a message, the minister said Maulana Abdul Halim Bukhari had dedicated himself to the propagation of the holy religion of Islam.
