The Met Office said that Barisal has received the highest rainfall of the current year in the last 24 hours.
Mahfuzur Rahman, an observer at the Barisal Met Office, said 79.8mm of rain had been recorded in Barisal in the last 24 hours till 6pm on Sunday.
He said the rains were due to monsoon winds which would last for two more days. The wind speed is normal during rainfall.

It started raining in Barisal on Saturday morning and after a break it again continued on Sunday.
Temporary waterlogging has occurred in several areas of Barisal city and important roads in the city are temporarily submerged.
Abdul Karim, a resident of Agarpur Road area of the city, said: “I could not get out of my house because of the continuous rain. A lot of water has accumulated on the roads. This would not have happened if the drains had been cleaned properly.”
Nurjahan Jahan Begum, a resident of Battala area, said that she could not go for an important work due to knee-deep water on the roads.
