ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB) recently organized the first of its kind “Festival of Resilience: People, Planet and Possibilities” in Bangladesh.

The festival provided opportunities for them to celebrate people through a unique exhibition of the diverse deep- rooted arts and culture within the country, said a press release issued on Tuesday.

Items exhibited in the program were produced in Bangladesh using locally sourced materials and processes.

The environment-friendly exhibition was organized by maintaining practices for indoor and outdoor events during Covid-19.

There was also a special “she-tales” segment, involving women leaders from the community who will share their tales of courage and resilience, and a cultural performance by AAB Band with the theme “Mukto Koro Bhoy, Apona Majhe Shakti Dhoro Nijera Koro Joy.”

The event started with a flash mob by the young participants of the Activista Network of ActionAid Bangladesh while there were three Human Book Café sessions with distinguished speakers.

The day ended with a performance by the “Joler Gaan’s” band.

Farah Kabir, country director of ActionAid Bangladesh, said: “The knack for survival through endurance and surpassing beyond obstacles is what makes us, as a nation, unique and commendable. At ActionAid, we felt that it was high time we celebrated this innate resilience of people – and therefore, came up with the idea of this Festival of Resilience.

“We organized this festival of resilience for the first time to highlight the different stories of resilience from our communities and to create a bridge between people from all walks of life.”
