A Gazipur court on Tuesday sent a 70-year-old to jail under cases filed over raping of two children in Savar.
Joynal Abedin was arrested on Monday night, following separate cases filed by the parents of the victims, said Officer-in-charge (OC) Kazi Mainul Islam of Savar police station.
According to the case, six minor students from Deogaon Darussalam Madrasah and Orphanage in Savar were returning home on Sunday.
On the way, Joynal lured the children to his home with various temptations. Later, after reaching his home, he started sexually harassing them.
At that time, three students managed to run away but Joynal raped two students by stifling their mouths.
The accused also threatened to kill them if they told anyone about his actions.
When the children returned home sick, the parents took them to the local Savar Modern Hospital for treatment.
Dr Morzina Begum said: “The parents brought the seven-year-old victim to me for treatment, after checking I saw that she had been raped.”
The victims were sent to the One-Stop Crisis Centre for medical examination in police custody.
