At least two people were killed in a head-on collision between a covered van and a CNG-run autorickshaw on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf highway on Wednesday.
The accident left three others including a woman and a child injured.
The deceased were identified as Imam Hossain, 35, and Nazir Ahmed, 60.
Abdur Rauf, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ramu Tulabagan Crossing Highway police station, confirmed the matter. He said that the autorickshaw was heading towards Cox's Bazar. It collided head-on with a covered van which was heading towards Teknaf leaving one passenger dead on the spot.
Four others, including the driver, were seriously injured. They were taken to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital where the duty doctor declared the driver dead on arrival.
The OC said that the driver of the covered van was detained.
