Arena of Valor Bangladesh Championship: Oriental Phoenix is crowned champion

Bangladesh's first E-sports competition with the highest prize pool of Tk25 lakh

The Arena of Valor Bangladesh Championship has crowned the first-ever champions of the biggest E-sports tournament in Bangladesh. 

The team “Oriental Phoenix” earned the title of “The Arena of Valor Bangladesh” and bagged Tk12 lakh as the first prize, said a press release.

Arena of Valor announced the final results of the Bangladesh Championship 2021, a first-of-its-kind tournament hosted in three cities, Dhaka, Khulna and Chittagong. 

The top eight teams from the City Qualifiers and Wildcard Online rounds battled head-to-head in double elimination tournament-style. 

Throughout the playoff rounds Oriential Phoenix’s team members - Ashadullah Al Galib, Abdullah Al Mashud, Fahraj Jamin Sparsha, Nafees Ahmed, Abrar Shahriar Subat, Fardin Hasan, and Sheikh Matiur Rahman had shown a great deal of confidence throughout, the press release said. 

“I’m so proud of how hard my team fought and played throughout the tournament. I still cannot believe we made it this far,” said the team captain from Oriental Phoenix. 

“Now, we're looking forward to practicing and getting ourselves ready for the upcoming Asian Games this year.”

The runners-up team “WE Esports Armada” with Team Members - Madhurjo Rahman, Nayeem Ferdous, Jihan Rahman Joy, Md Zobayer Ahamed, Shopon Chandra Pal and Nayeem Ferdous fought fiercely against the other teams during the championship match.

The tournament kicked off with 191 teams and more than 5000 players from three different cities and online, competing in the epic 5v5 multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game. 

This is the first ever competition for E-sports gamers from Bangladesh with the highest prize pool of Tk25 lakh. 

All matches were streamed live with commentators tracking and highlighting the teams’ moves.

The Bangladesh Championship is the biggest and first-ever esports event hosted in this region by Arena of Valor. 

Based on the tournament this time, Arena of Valor has moved into a co-operation with the emerging global smartphone brand Infinix.

According to Bangladesh Country Head Kazi Arafat Hossain: "Arena of Valor has taken the first step towards the development of the E-sports industry in Bangladesh and this marks the start of the long term development plan for the community and players.’’ 

He also stated his hope that these development structures and national level tournaments will fulfill his dreams of Bangladesh winning a medal at the Asian Olympics.

Late last year, Arena of Valor announced that a separate version of the game will be created for the upcoming Asian Games, which will take place in Hangzhou city in China from September 10 to 25, 2022. 

Players from around the world, including Bangladesh, will be able to participate in the competitive spirit that the game offers and make their country proud.

Players compete in multiple game modes including standard or ranked matches with an average of 12-18 minutes.
