Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on Saturday said efforts are underway to crack down on syndicates involved in raising the prices of essential commodities.
“We are trying to ensure that no syndicate can operate. Syndicates of traders have been active for years, which is why it is taking time [to break them up], but we are trying," the minister told journalists at an event in Khulna, reports UNB.
He also said the government has been providing 10 million families with food at a low price and trying its best to help the people.
