Standing tickets are available for purchase at four stations

Update : 24 Jun 2023, 11:51 AM

Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, one of the two major religious festivals of Muslims, 52 pairs of intercity and local trains were taking people to their destinations on Saturday, the first day of trips with advance tickets.

Dhumketu Express kicked off the day's trips at 6am. Different trains will travel to different destinations throughout the country so that people can celebrate the Eid holidays with their loved ones.

According to railway sources, 25% of the total number of seats will be sold as standing tickets this time too.

These tickets are available at Dhaka (Kamalapur), Dhaka Cantonment, Airport and Joydebpur Stations.

Only standing tickets can be purchased from the station counters on the day of departure.

Three pairs of special trains will run from the Dhaka Cantonment station to ensure smooth operations at Kamalapur station.

Advance ticket sales for inter-city trains started on June 14.

Similarly, the sale of return advance tickets started on June 22.

Like Eid-ul-Fitr, 100% of tickets were sold online.

Train tickets were sold in two shifts this time to prevent the e-ticket server from going down due to the pressure of excess buyers.

Besides, eight pairs of special trains will be operated for the Eid journey.
