Prices of broilers, soybean oil go down

Cumin price has increased by Tk50 in one week

The prices of broilers and soybean oil have come down compared to last week. 

Bottled soybean oil is being sold at the new price of Tk189 per litre as the Ministry of Commerce implemented a price reduction for packaged soybean oil, decreasing it by Tk10 per litre, five days ago. 

Broiler prices also decreased by Tk30 per kg compared to last week. 

However, sellers say prices may rise again before Eid.

Meanwhile, the price of cumin is increasing even before Eid-ul-Azha. It rose by Tk50 per kg in a week.

Meanwhile, ilish is being sold at Tk1,600-2,000 per kg, rui Tk370-450, catla Tk500-600, Kalibaush Tk500, shrimp Tk1,000, Kanchki Tk500, Tengra Tk650, Pabda Tk500 and Shing Tk500.

Besides, broilers are selling at Tk177-182, “cock chicken” at Tk230-250, local chicken at Tk600 and beef at Tk770-790 per kg.

Last week, broiler chicken was sold at Tk207-215 per kg, cock chicken at Tk230-250 and local chicken at Tk650 per kg.

Moin, a chicken seller, said that the price of broilers has dropped. But the price will increase again before Eid.

A customer, Hridoy, who came to buy chicken, said traders have only one job, which is to increase prices.

“The price will increase again before Eid. When traders hear about Eid, the price of everything goes up,” he added. 

Earlier, the price of soybean oil (bottled) per litre was Tk199 and loose soybean oil was Tk178. The price has come down to Tk189 per litre and Tk170, respectively.

Cumin at the retail level is being sold at Tk850 per kg, which was Tk800 per kg last week.

Arif, a trader, said that the price of cumin seeds is increasing. Prices increase as Eid comes. Last week, his purchase price of cumin was Tk780 and he sold it for Tk800. He bought cumin at Tk830 and was selling it at Tk850 on Friday.

Besides, the prices of other products are the same as before. The price of lentils is Tk130, mung dal Tk120, khesari dal Tk80, buter dal Tk 95, chickpea Tk85, sugar Tk130 per kg, atta Tk130 (2 kg packet), flour Tk63 and mustard oil Tk250 per litre.

Besides, vegetable prices in the kitchen market are almost unchanged compared to last week.
