An earthquake has struck several areas of Bangladesh, including the capital Dhaka.
The magnitude 4.5 quake was felt at 10:46am on Friday, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said, categorizing it as a light tremor.
The epicentre of the earthquake was identified as Silchar, Assam, India, located 13 kilometres from Sylhet.
According to the earthquake bulletin signed by Farzana Sultana, assistant meteorologist of Agargaon Meteorological Office, the distance of the origin of the earthquake from Agargaon Meteorological Office was 202km northeast.
A mild earthquake was felt in Sylhet on Friday morning. It was raining heavily in Sylhet during the earthquake.
In the city's Shahi Eidgah area, residents of a 12-storey building could be seen leaving their homes in fear. The residents of the flats were seen taking shelter in the building's safe areas.
Mahfuz Ahmad Chowdhury, a resident of Golapganj, the place of origin of the earthquake, said that there was no immediate report of any damage due to the earthquake. However, concerned relatives in different parts of the country were looking out for them.

Sylhet Meteorological Office observer Lutfur Rahman said that the earthquake occurred very close to Sylhet city. There was heavy rainfall during the earthquake.
He said that Sylhet has recorded 136.4mm rainfall in the previous 24 hours from 6am on Friday. Besides, 22mm of rain fell from 6am-9am and 53mm from 9am-12pm on Friday, he said.
This is not the first seismic event to affect Bangladesh in recent months.
Residents of Dhaka and other places woke up to a 4.3-magnitude tremor on May 4 morning.
The epicentre of the earthquake was around 23km from the capital near Sreenagar in Munshiganj, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
Previously on December 5, Dhaka and several other parts of the country were struck by a 5.2-magnitude earthquake and another magnitude 4 quake on April 25 before that.
