Momtaz Begum, the country's popular folk singer and Awami League Member of Parliament from Manikganj-2 Constituency, participated in the budget discussion and sang in the parliament.
She sang parts of two of her songs during the debate on the proposed 2023-24 budget in the National Parliament on Monday.
She performed a song about Bangabandhu. The other was about the development of the current government.
Besides, she mentioned in the parliament an incident regarding sale of electricity she had discussed in the Parliament in 2017 which faced backlashes and trolls on social media. During the speech, she explained how she had helped the country with tackling the electricity problems delivering electrical lines and metres to every household between 2009-2017.
In this regard, Momtaz said that those who cannot see the good of the government are spreading various rumours and misinformation on social media day and night.
