The Awami League, its associate bodies and like-minded socio-cultural organizations have drawn up elaborate programs to mark the historic Six-Point Day on Wednesday.
The ruling party's programs include hoisting the national and party flags atop Bangabandhu Bhaban in Dhanmondi, the central office in the capital, and all unit offices across the country in the morning, reports BSS.
Leaders and workers of the Awami League and its front organizations will place wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Bhaban at 7am.
Besides, the party will organize a discussion at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in Dhaka at 3:30pm.
Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will chair the discussion.
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader in a statement on Tuesday urged all district, city, upazila, municipality, union and ward units of the party, its associates and like-minded bodies as well as the people to observe the day across the country in a befitting manner through different programs.
He also advised all to maintain proper health rules while attending the programs.
On June 7 in 1966, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman launched a massive movement against the misrule of the Pakistanis on the basis of the six-point demand, demanding autonomy for then-East Pakistan.
