A Jubo Dal leader injured in Wednesday’s clash between the BNP and police in Munshiganj has died.
Shahidul Islam Shaon breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at 8:50pm on Thursday.
Jahangir Madbar and Tarek Hossain, two other BNP members seriously injured in the clash, are receiving medical care at the hospital.
Shaon was organizing secretary of a local ward unit of Jubo Dal, the youth wing of the BNP.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir offered his condolences to Shaon’s family on the Jubo Dal leader’s passing.
Shaon had been shot by police, claimed Jubo Dal President Sultan Salahuddin Tuku.
At least 50 people, including 30 policemen, were injured in the clash during a BNP rally in Munshiganj’s Muktarpur area on Wednesday.
The skirmish reportedly started when the police tried to stop the rally.
Munshiganj Sadar police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mainuddin and local Sramik League leader Abdul Malek filed the two cases on Thursday accusing 365 named and another 1,000 unidentified people over the clash.
