A Meherpur court on Sunday sentenced three people to life imprisonment in a case filed for killing a man over Tk400 in 2016.
Apart from them, three other individuals have also received one-year prison terms with hard labor, reports Bangla Tribune.
The court of Additional District Judge Ripati Kumar Biswas delivered the verdict, Public Prosecutor attorney Pallab Bhattacharya confirmed.
Convicts sentenced to life are – Kabidul Islam, 50, and Mofizul Khan,40, and Jamat Ali Khoka, 40, of Mujibnagar upazila.
Among them, Jamat Ali is still on the run.
On January 8, 2016, victim Golam Liaquat Hossain was killed in a fight over the demand for Tk400 at Bagwan market in Meherpur.
Liaquat's brother Mokhleshsur Rahman later filed a case with Mujibnagar police station against nine accused.
In the case, 27 witnesses gave testimonies.
