Twenty journalists of different media houses have received training on 'first aid' from Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) under its two-day training program ending yesterday.
Journalists joined the training program held at the BDRCS headquarters to acquaint themselves with the methods of providing first aid. The training is likely to help them reduce health risks in both personal and professional lives.
BDRCS has been providing similar training to different groups across the country since 1971, the organization said on Thursday.
It aims to reduce the number of deaths caused by different calamities through providing first aid services.
BDRCS with the help of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has provided training to about 350 journalists over the past eight years.
Every year, 44 journalists receive similar training in two batches.
At the end of the training the participants received certificates from BDRCS.
Major General (retd) ATM Abdul Wahab, chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, on the occasion requested the media to highlight the importance of the training through publishing news so that the message reaches the people.
