Hundreds of motorcyclists of an organization, Shariatpur Bikers, have staged a demonstration demanding the withdrawal of ban on movement of motorcycles on the bridge.
They took position near a toll plaza on the Jajira end around 12pm and organized a human chain and blocked the toll plaza of Padma Bridge and Expressway.
Earlier, the organization handed over a memorandum to Shariatpur Deputy Commissioner Parvez Hasan demanding the same.

The protesters demanded permission for movement on all highways including Padma Bridge before Eid.
According to them, people are becoming dependent on motorcycles for various reasons including public transport crisis, harassment of passengers at various places and public transports charging extra fares.
The organization requested to allow motorcycles during Eid travel with speed limit by ensuring valid documents and licenses.
On June 26, two persons including a motorcyclist were killed in a road accident at Padma Bridge. Following the incident all types of motorcycles have been banned from crossing the bridge.
