A Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrim returned 700,000 CFA francs to a fellow West African pilgrim that he found in Medina during Hajj.

The incident took place recently in Medina, Saudi Arabia, said Abdur Rahman, the Bangladeshi national.

He is a resident of Demra in Dhaka. The owner of the lost money is a citizen of West Africa’s Burkina Faso.

In a social media post, Abdur Rahman said he had found money at a spot in Medina.

He then stood at the spot and searched for the person who had lost the money.

He said: “At that time I thought that I would handover the money to the administration if I couldn’t find its owner.”

He also shared two pictures in his post. In the pictures, he held a piece of paper where he wrote: "Some African francs found.”

Abdur Rahman eventually found the owner of money and returned it after getting proper evidence.

He later wrote in another post that the Burkina Faso citizen hugged him and cried after receiving the money back.

Many have praised Abdur Rahman's actions on social media.

An official of the Bangladesh Hajj Mission in Medina said: "Such a great example of a Bangladeshi citizen will definitely enhance the image of the country abroad."

"We are trying to find that Bangladeshi Haji to thank him for this work," he added.
