CTTC: Arrested Mehedi uncrewed nuts and bolts of Padma Bridge with wrench

Md Mehedi, who was arrested for unscrewing nuts and bolts of Padma Bridge had used wrench, said Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

The 27-year-old was arrested from Lakshmipur for damaging Padma Bridge infrastructure by unscrewing nuts and bolts of the bridge and making a video of it, CTTC chief Md Asaduzzaman told a media call on Thursday.

CTTC also managed to seize the he mobile phone from which the video was made, he added.

Mehedi was identified through modern technology and secret sources of CTTC Cyber Intelligence Division.

According to the information given by Mehedi, CTTC team is currently trying to arrest the other who helped the accused to record the video and upload it on Youtube.

A case has been filed against the arrested under the Special Powers Act at Munshiganj's Padma Bridge north police station.

CTTC chief said: “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Padma Multipurpose Bridge with Bangladesh’s funds and declared it a historic day. Since the beginning, some people have been engaged in various propaganda and destructive activities to prevent its contruction. Now, they are also trying to destroy the bridge since its inauguration.”

On June 26, a 26-second long video went viral on social media where the arrested Mehedi Hassan unscrewed nuts and bolts attached to the railing of the bridge and made a video of it. He was later seen to screw them together.
