The ruling Awami League’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League activists have reportedly stopped Bangladesh Chhatra Dal activists from welcoming the Dhaka University admission seekers on campus.
BNP’s student wing Chhatra Dal took position at the Faculty of Fine Arts building around 12pm on Friday.
However, BCL’s Bangabandhu Hall unit activists asked them to leave after which they went to wait outside the gates.
They were once more interrupted in the presence of university administration and law enforcers.
They later went to a road a little far away from the gates and welcomed the students with flowers and pens and left the campus around 12:45pm.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ramna Zone Assistant Commissioner (ADC) Harunur Rashid says that there was no clash between BCL and Chhatra Dal.
“We were active in ensuring that the students are able to sit for the exams peacefully,” he told Bangla Tribune.
Meanwhile, DU Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani said: “They (Chhatra Dal) were here to welcome the students with flowers. There was no chaos.
“It’s not my duty to see who comes to the campus to do what. My job is to ensure that students can sit for the tests without any interruptions from 11am to 12pm,” he added.
Earlier, Dhaka University held the admission test to the “Ka” unit under the Faculty of Science for the 2021-22 academic session.
Around 115,726 students are competing for 1,851 seats available in the “Ka” unit.
