A group of unidentified gunmen killed Rohingya leader Mohammad Mohib Ullah at a refugee camp in Cox's Bazar's in September last year.
Known as Master Mohib Ullah, who was in his late 40s, had been serving as the chairman of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights.
He founded the ARSPH in 2017 to document atrocities against Rohingya in their native Myanmar and give them a voice in international talks about their future. After his death, Mohib Ullah’s family contacted different international organizations in a bid to leave the camp.
On Thursday, 11 members of Muhib Ullah’s family left for Canada amid safety fears. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and International Organization for Migration (IOM) helped them to move.

Thousands from refugee camps in Ukhiya and Teknaf upazilas attend Mohib’s funeral and burial at Kutupalong refugee camp. International rights organizations call for an investigation into the killing.
October 1, 2021
US Secretary of State Antony J Blinken calls for a full and transparent investigation into the murder. Police arrest Mohammad Selim alias Lomba Selim, a suspect in the murder, from a camp in Ukhiya.
October 6, 2021
A Cox’s Bazar court grants a three-day remand each for three Rohingya arrested in this case.
October 7, 2021
Dhaka Tribune reports that members of Mohib’s family as well as his close associates wish to move to a third country citing security reasons.

Another suspect, Abdu Nabi, is arrested from Bandarban.

AFP reports that the Bangladesh government has shut down the largest private school for Rohingya refugees which was set up by Mohib.
