Bangladesh Railway has decided to resume carrying passengers at full capacity again from Wednesday (February 9), after 25 days of operating at half capacity.
“With the decline of Covid cases, and the government's vaccination programs, train passengers have increased. Hence, to meet the passenger demands, trains will be operated with 100% occupancy," says a statement by the railway authorities issued on Monday.
The authorities have also informed that half of the tickets would be sold online, and the other half at the ticket counters of the stations.
The inter-city trains will provide food and bedding at night following hygiene rules.
On January 15, Bangladesh Railway decided to operate trains at half their capacity in an effort to ensure social distancing during train journeys.
