Gloomy and wet weather greeted Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon, catching the city dwellers by a surprise with a heavy shower afterwards amid biting cold – a double trouble for people outside home.
The shower brought to a halt normal life and created traffic chaos in the capital. It was also experienced in Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions.
The worst affected were those stuck in rush-hour traffic in the winter rain.
Those who went out of their homes for various works found themselves in deep trouble and complained of overcharging by auto drivers who tried to fleece passengers.
Some of them were seen waiting for public transport in the rain while others were forced to embrace the cold downpour and wade through filthy waters towards their destination.
Street vendors were unable to operate during the rain and the markets saw fewer people.
The weather department recorded 4mm of rainfall in Dhaka and 11mm in Srimangal till 6pm on Wednesday, reports UNB.
Meanwhile, the country's lowest temperature was recorded at 9.8°C in Tetulia of Rangpur division in the last 24 hours.
