2 prisoners die in DMCH

The deceased are from Kashimpur and Keraniganj central jails

Two prisoners including a lifer died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Fazlur Rahman Tanmoy alias Taposh, 52, from Kashimpur Central Jail, and Moniruzzaman Hannan alias Menda, 51, from Keraniganj Central Jail.

Md Bachchu Mia, in-charge inspector of DMCH police outpost, confirmed the deaths to Dhaka Tribune. 

He said the bodies were kept at the morgue.

According to the jail guards, Fazlur, a life-sentenced inmate, fell sick and was taken to Gazipur Shahid Taj Uddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital.

Later, he was moved to DMCH emergency department around 2am where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. His autopsy was completed on Tuesday afternoon. 

Earlier, in the presence of Executive Magistrate Khairun Nahar, Shahbagh police station SI Harun Aur Rashid prepared his inquest report.

Besides, when Moniruzzaman fell ill in Keraniganj Central Jail, the jail guards took him to the DMCH emergency department around 12 noon but only to be declared dead.
