Limestone import from India has resumed through Bholaganj land customs station in Sylhet, after three months of hiatus due to the rapid surge of Covid-19 in the neighbouring country earlier this year.
Thirty trucks carrying around 500 tons of limestone, overseen by custom authorities and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), entered Bangladesh on Thursday.
Operations resumed at the station maintaining all health guidelines, said Bholaganj Land Customs employee Abdur Rouf.
He added that India’s export body wrote to the businessmen seeking to resume imports.

According to sources, the call was made during a meeting between India’s Majhai Export Association and New Majhai Local Exporters Forum.
The trucks were allowed to enter after doctors certified that the truck drivers were all vaccinated.
Bholaganj Lime Importer Group General Secretary Mujibur Rahman Mintu said the drivers were not allowed to get off the vehicles.
