State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has urged parents and teachers to be more vigilant in keeping children and adolescents safe on the internet.
Addressing an event on Friday, he said: "Parents and teachers can play an important role in making students aware of safe internet use at home and in classroom."
Palak made the remarks as chief guest at the closing ceremony of the National Talent Award-2021 organized by the National Children's Task Force (NCTF), says a press release.

He said children and young people needed to post on Facebook thinking about keeping themselves safe and secure.
"Using the internet, we have now been able to bring everything to a digital platform," he said.
"Students are able to study through lessons online from home. Besides, the health sector is also providing services with the help of internet very easily," he added.

"In order to make the internet accessible to all, the ICT Department, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is taking and implementing various programs following the advice of ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy," Palak said.
Director of Save the Children's Child Rights Governance and Child Protection Sector Abdullah Al Mamun, Bagerhat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Muhammad Mushabberul Islam and General Secretary of Happy Dreams Foundation Sushma Das were present, among others.
The closing ceremony was attended by 145 children and youths from 64 districts across the country.
