Members of the Kuakata naval police have detained 34 fishermen for violating a fishing ban in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali district.
They were detained during a raid on the Agunmukha River in the upazila on Sunday.
The law enforcers also seized six trawlers and three lakh metre nets.

According to police, eight of the detainees are from Lalua area of Kalapara upazila while the rest are from different areas of the adjoining Rangabali upazila.
Kamrul Islam, assistant sub-inspector of Kuakata naval police, said the fishermen had been fishing in various rivers, including the sea, for several days, ignoring the ban.
The government imposed the ban on May 20 for 65 days till July 23 considering the breeding of the sea fishes and their conservation.
