Five members of a family received burn injuries when a gas cylinder exploded at their house Freeport Kalsi Dighi area of Chittagong on early hours of Thursday.
“The victims were identified as Md Royal, 30, Naju, 28, Md Shipon, 30, Lamia, 3, Jihad, 6,” ASI Shilbrot Barua of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) police check post said while confirming the matter.
He also said the explosion took place when the family members were cooking at their home. The injured are all members of the same family.
Following the blast, neighbours brought them to the hospital around 3:30am and they are now being treated at the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit, he added.

Talking to Dhaka Tribune, Dr Rafiq Uddin Ahmed, head of the burn and plastic surgery unit at CMCH said two children of the five burned in the blaze last night were in a stable situation.
“However, the condition of the other three people remains critical. Their burns are high and their respiratory system has been compromised,” he added.
Earlier this month, two separate but similar gas explosions in the post city had burnt at least 9 people.
