Shops and malls will be closed down if health guidelines are not followed strictly.
Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam made the announcement during a press conference at the Secretariat after the cabinet meeting on Monday.
"Strict action will be taken if people do not wear masks. From today (Monday), police, city corporation, and magistrates will supervise the shops and malls. If more people are seen roaming without masks, they will shut down the shops and malls if necessary,” said the cabinet secretary.

Besides, the Eid holiday will remain for three days as before, he added.
Meanwhile, the government has extended the ongoing restrictions on public movement till May 16.
However, public transport will be able to operate in the district from May 6. However, long-route public transport from one district to another will remain closed until further notice.
Earlier on April 28, the government extended the current restriction till May 5 in a bid to stem the spread of Covid-19. Under which, the shops and malls are allowed to be remain open from 10am to 8pm.
Health experts also suggested that the current restrictions should continue to reduce the risk of Covid-19 in the country.
