A Jubo League leader and a Chhatra League leader has been accused of attacking Hefazat-e-Islam Joint Secretary General Mawlana Mamunul Haque.
Joint General Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan 10 area Mufti Foisal Mahmud along with other Hefazat leaders filed a written complaint in Sonargaon police station of Narayanganj.
Sonargaon police station OC Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter.
The accused are Sonargaon upazila Jubo League President Rafiqul Islam Nannu and former Narayanganj district Chhatra League vice-president Shah Mohammad Shohag Rony.
No case has been filed in this regard till the writing of the report at 6:30pm.
According to the written complaint, on April 3, Mamunul Haque along with his wife were staying at a hotel called Sonargaon Royal Resort, but resort owner Sheikh Saidur Rahman and his staff failed to provide him security.
Unidentified persons led by Sonargaon upazila Jubo League president Rafiqal Islam and former Narayanganj district Chhatra League vice-president Sohag Rony attacked Mamunul Haque. They tore the collar of Mamunul Haque’s shirt, pulled his beard and physically abused and slandered him. At that time, his car key and wallet were snatched away.
Later, they filed a complaint with Sonargaon police station.
Officer-in-Charge of Sonargaon police station Rafiqul Islam told Dhaka Tribune that no case has been filed in this regard so far. Investigation is underway, necessary action will be taken after investigation.
