Police, during a raid, arrested two members of militant outfit New JMB with firearms on Wednesday evening from Ranisankail upazila, Thakurgaon.
Acting on a tip-off, the law enforcers conducted the drive at Bharania village and made the arrests around 7pm, said locals and police.
Ranisankail police OC Jahid Iqbal on Thursday morning said brothers Shahidul and Emdad Ali were caught with two pistols, one locally-made single-barrel gun and five rounds of bullets.
Local sources said that militants like these two have been hiding in that area for a while now.
The OC added that their raid was still underway on Thursday and the Ranisankail circle assistant superintendent of police will brief the media later in the afternoon after the drive ends.
