A Khulna court on Sunday denied bail petition of Ruhul Amin, the workers’ leader from the jute mills protest movement.
Khulna Metropolitan Sessions Court Judge Shahidul Islam passed the order.
Ruhul Amin, also the coordinator of Sramik-Krishak, Chhatra-Janata Oikya Parishad in Khulna, was arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act (DSA) on February 27.
The leftist leader was placed on a two-day remand and on March 1, the court rejected his bail plea.
Ruhul was picked up by law enforcers from Khalishpur in Khulna on February 26, as he criticized the government on social media, protesting writer Mushtaq Ahmed’s death in custody.
Meanwhile, leaders and activists of Sramik-Krishak, Chhatra-Janata Oikya Parishad in Khulna formed a human chain in front of Khulna Press Club on Sunday afternoon, demanding the immediate release of Ruhul Amin and to abolish DSA.
