Update : 14 Mar 2021, 08:55 PM

Three people, including two teenagers, were run over by trains in two separate incidents in Gazipur on Sunday.

The deceased have not been identified yet.

The first accident took place on the Dhaka-Rangpur railway line after 10am on Sunday.

Joydebpur Railway Junction police camp Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Malek confirmed the incident to Dhaka Tribune.

He said two teenagers were killed when they were run over by a Rangpur-bound Rangpur Express train in the Ahaki area of Gazipur City Corporation's Konabari police station. Their ages are approximately between 12 to 14 years old.

A traditional Bangladeshi spinning toy (latim) was found next to the bodies of the teenagers. It is believed that the accident took place while they were playing with the latim next to the railway tracks.

In a separate incident on the same day, a pedestrian was killed when a Dhaka-bound Sirajganj Express train ran over him on the Dhaka-Rangpur rail route in Ratanpur area of Kaliakair.

The deceased has been identified as a 35-year-old man.

Police recovered the bodies of the deceased in both incidents and sent them to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsies.
