My Sisters’ Keeper held their second webinar, titled “Starting the Conversation on Domestic Violence,'' on Saturday, February 20.

The MSK project is running under the supervision of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and World Academy for the Future of Women (WAFW).

Dr Nashid Kamal, adjunct professor at IEDRC under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, along with Barrister Rizwana Yusuf, advocate at the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, and Nazmun Naher Shishir, communication and advocacy manager at Obhibashi Karmi Unnayun Program (OKUP), attended the program and shared their experiences of working against domestic violence.

WAFW founder Jerrie Ueberle, facilitator Bridget E Kelly, Shannon Wallace Knell and WAFW ULAB Project Lead Nadia Rahman were also present at the webinar.

The topics of discussions included how to reflect thoughts and emotions logically in a patriarchal environment, how to convert a one-to-one conversation into a general conversation, and how to identify different communication approaches for women of different generations and age groups.

The speakers also highlighted how and when a victim should realize that abuse is not just a phase of a relationship and it has a traumatic impact.

Participants were allowed to ask  questions and share their opinions in the chat room.

The next MSK webinar will be held on March 6 at 8:00pm. Updates about the project and the webinar series are available on the Facebook page of WAFW Bangladesh.
