There is no alternative to improving investment services for the development of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida) Executive Chairman Md Sirajul Islam has said.
“We are working tirelessly to improve the quality of investment services. Hopefully, we will be able to provide 154 investment services from 35 companies by the end of this year, and this will help improve our Ease of Doing Business index score,” he added.
The Bida executive chairman made the statement while speaking as the chief guest at a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony held at Bida Bhaban on Thursday, read a press release published by Bida.
Bida signed memoranda of understanding (MoU) with four service providers: Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence Department, the Department of Registration, Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority and Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Ltd. Bida will now be able to provide 16 types of services from these organizations through their online one-stop service portal.
Earlier, Bida signed MoUs with 20 companies, including six in the first phase, six in the second phase, four in the third phase and four in the fourth phase, to provide services through their online one-stop service portal.
At present, Bida is providing investors with 41 services from 11 companies through the portal.
Speaking on the occasion, Bida executive member Md Billal Hossain said: "We are continuing our efforts to improve the quality of investment services. More investment means more employment and progress.”
He also said Bangladesh, a country of immense potential, is prepared to receive huge investment.
Bida Director General Md Wahidud Islam delivered the welcome address on the occasion.
Joint Secretary of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications Md Abdul Hannan, Inspector General of Registration Shahidul Alam Jhinuk, Additional Secretary (Operations), Department of Energy and Mineral Resources Md Abul Mansur, Additional Secretary of Water Supply Division of the Local Government Department Muhammad Ibrahim spoke at the event while senior officials of the concerned ministries and departments were also present.
