DU Department of Japanese Studies signs MoU with Bangladesh Ikebana Association

Both the parties have agreed to undertake a number of activities at their convenience

The Department of Japanese Studies (DJS) of Dhaka University signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh Ikebana Association (BIA) at the department office on Sunday. 

Chairman of the department Dr Abdullah-Al-Mamun signed the agreement on behalf of DJS while BIA was represented by its President Shahinoor Baby, a press release said.

Both the parties have agreed to undertake a number of activities at their convenience. 

They have agreed to arrange workshops to train students and alumni of the Department of Japanese Studies and others interested in Ikebana, assist each other for observing historical events connected to both Bangladesh and Japan and their cultural affairs, organize a joint cultural week—Japan-Bangladesh Cultural Festival, conduct joint research on cultural aspects of both the countries, organize at least one joint seminar every year, arrange programs outside of Dhaka to spread Japanese floral art culture Ikebana all over Bangladesh.

Moreover, BIA will arrange an Ikebana show during any cultural program of DJS at its request, the press statement added.

Founder of Bangladesh Ikebana Association Dr AKM Moazzem Hussain and Life Patron Masud Karim, and DJS faculty members Dr Dilruba Sharmin, Nashia Zaman, and Shiblee Noman were present during the signing ceremony.
